Road Trip - Day 3 and 4

So to continue from MO, Denny and I make our way to Oklahoma.  I wanted to see the Oklahoma City National Memorial Park.  We got there around 1PM and boy was it hot!! Our allergies were flaring up too; we didn't have enough tissues for our sweat and snot!! But the park was BEAUTIFUL!  It's in the center of the city and had many components - the memorial itself, seating areas, children areas (with tiles decorated - similar to Waterplace Park - and chalk squares), and a museum.

After OK, we pretty much gunned it to NM so we could rest up and take on AZ in the upcoming days.  We went to fuel up at Denny's and it was pretty much the highlight of NM.  We were driving through the dark night (RI so lucky to have lights like EVERYWHERE) but we didn't miss anything exciting.  When we drove the next morning all that was covered by the night was just boring adobe homes.

So en route to AZ of course we had "Indian Tacos" and then visited the Meteor Crater.  That was the only place Den wanted to go see and it was pretty cool.  It was in a middle of nowhere area and hella hot and I want to said high elevation because this little piggy had a bit of tough time breathing!  But it was cool to see it - they had these random things at the base of the crater and these telescopes to zoom in so you could see the depth.  The information center was nice too, providing what the meteor was comprised of (I forget but I think mostly iron) and then all this NASA information which I don't know how it related.....*shrugs*

We continued onward to get to the Grand Canyon but something piqued my interest - Bedrock City...hmmm what could that mean?  Of course the Flintstones!! Hahah....it was so random but amazing since the rundown place provided this kiddy/scary-esque feel to it.

So with this little sidetrack visit, we got to the Grand Canyon when it was evening so couldn't take any pictures/see the scenery so we decided to stay the night. We would go early in the morning to take sunrise shots and to get a little hike in.  But more on that in another post.

Hope you're enjoying these posts - I swear one more and then other posts will be written....like about our apartment setup and Ikea visits hahaa.
